Michelle Aragón is a native New Yorker - born and bred in Brooklyn, currently residing in Queens. A self-taught artist, she has always been involved in artistic endeavors through acting, dance and writing. Her studies at Syracuse University and The School of Visual Arts led to a successful career in advertising, first at Conill Advertising and then at her own agency, Aragon Advertising. The studies and work experience have given her extensive expertise in visual media via work in TV and print production. In 2009, she founded www.artscenetoday.com, a website providing exposure for emerging artists through online artist resources, juried competitions, exhibitions and printed catalogues of each themed exhibition.
Her experience with performing arts has easily translated to the plastic arts through her dramatic acrylic paintings. In these works she captures a powerful, yet minimalist expression of emotions through an iconic alter ego, Mimi, intertwining introspective explorations with issues of female identity and stereotypes.
